Today's song is a church song. As I was looking through a hymnal I saw and remembered singing it at church and read the lyrics. Several people I spoke of it to remembered it also, though I doubt you could find a recording. After the lyrics are my comments.
Sing A New Song by Dan Schutte, S.J.
Sing a new song unto the Lord
Let your song be sung
From mountains high
Sing a new song unto the Lord
Singing alleluia!
Yahweh's people dance for joy
O come before the Lord
And play for Him on glad tambourines
And let your trumpet sound
Sing a new song unto the Lord
Let your song be sung
From mountains high
Sing a new song unto the Lord
Singing alleluia!
It took me a while to figure out that the lyrics were written as directions, to us, from the old HP. Do you realize what this song is really saying?! He is telling us:
"Quit whining! I'm sick and tired of hearing it! Why don't you try being grateful for a change?"
Well! Okay, then!
If you want don't know the song and would like me to sing it for you, all you have to do is ask. I'd also send the notes to the melody to anyone who asked me nicely.
Have a good and sober day.
