Song Day - Wait For Me

"Wait For Me" by Hall and Oates

This song is re-written as dialog between the old HP and I. The way it turned out has echoes of God's forgiveness and understanding. When I sing this song, I picture someone in a bar for the last time and then finding their way in early sobriety. This is a very powerful song for me. I hope you enjoy it, too.

My words are in italics, the old HP's words are in bold type.

Midnight hour almost over
Time is running out for the magic here
I know you gave the best that you have
But one more chance?
No, it's too hard for you to bear.

Wait for me please
Wait for me
Alright, I guess
That's more than I should ask
Wait for me please
Wait for me
I know my light is fading fast.

You could go either way
It is easier to stay
I wonder what You'll do
When Your chance rolls around
You gotta know how much I want to keep you
And when I'm away (from You) I'm afraid it will all fall down.

Love is what I need and I am getting nowhere
And all the stuff I've done
Will all be good for something
Please forgive all the disturbance I've created
You have a lot to learn if you think that I'm not
Waiting for you.
