Song Day! Bless The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts

This song was sent to me as a suggestion for Song Day at the Blog. When I heard it, I thought of my life's journey so far and how broken the road had been until I got clean and sober. Today the road is much smoother although I still have some pot holes. At least today I know that each day is a blessing, probably because the road was so broken at one time.

I always appreciate input from those that read this blog and try to use your contributions as often as possible.

Bless The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts

I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

Chorus:

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

I think about the years I spent just passing through

I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

Chorus:

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

Now I’m just rollin’ home into my lover's arms

This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you

Have a good and sober day.

  1. I love this song :) It played at my wedding, and now it has meaning in my sobriety also :)

  2. I didn't realize you took requests! Have you already done something by Tom Petty? I realize he's probably a big 'ole pot head, but I love his music. If you haven't, I'd love to hear one - Running Down a Dream, maybe?

  3. The road has lots of twists and turns for sure. But eventually the way does get smoother.

Are you suggesting a song to post as is, or are you looking for a re-write? Don't say 'either one', you must choose.
