This song is re-written as a prayer to the old HP. It tells of all that He made possible for me once I came into the fellowship of the recovery program ETA, and all the benefits I receive by keeping Him close and try to follow His will for me. This song does not say I'll never have to face challenges in sobriety, it says I'll not have to face them alone. The re-write speaks to something I read a long time ago: God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called. When the old HP asks me to do something I'm not sure I can do, I just have to ask and He will be there to help me. He won't do it for me, He will give me all I need to do what He asks me to do.

It is a song of thanksgiving. It is a song of praise. And it is a song about all the things I would reject if I were to pick up a drink or a drug again.
