Song Day- Fallin'

I was sober and had worked the recovery program ETA for several years before I was capable of being honest with the old HP. Up until the time that I was able to admit to Him I wasn't always thrilled with my life and it's struggles, I always wore a mask when trying to communicate with Him. My prayers would start out with my saying how much I loved and trusted Him, which was an ideal but hardly the truth, and then continue with how happy I was with every happening in my life, which was what I thought I was supposed to feel.

Finally I realized that claiming how much I loved following blissfully along behind Him at every given moment was dishonesty and successful relationships must be based on honesty. Shortly thereafter, I realized how funny it was to think I could put one over on the old HP since I believe He sees and knows all. Once again, the person I was lying to the most was myself.

Today's song reflects the ups and downs that occur in most relationships. I like the way it turns into a prayer when I sing it to the old HP; the truthful expression of the strength and straining of my faith and trust as I try to do His will while handling life on life's terms.
